Eagle Apartments – this is a horrible sign. It looks like someone painted it using a paint roller and a bucket of discount white primer. True, some of that inelegance could be from decay and ineffective restoration. However, the font is still awkwardly blocky and the letters badly scaled to one another.So why am I writing about this fairly insignificant sign/building. Look at the roofline of the adjacent building. See the distinctive C, L, and A of the Spencerian script? That can mean only one thing – an old Coca Cola ghost sign.  555 Eddy was built in 1910 and the adjacent building was completed in 1924. That dates this Coca Cola sign to sometime between 1910 and 1924.

Alas, Google Satellite did not have a good view of this building. Too bad, would have been interesting to get a rooftop view of the entire Coca Cola sign.
